"Loved by Jesus, we love, we learn, we live and grow together for Him"

6. How will I be involved in decisions made about my child’s education?

We know that you’re the expert when it comes to your child’s needs and aspirations. We want to make sure you fully understand how we’re meeting your child’s needs and can share your insights on what works best for them. At St. Peter’s, we work in partnership with parents to keep you informed about your child’s support and progress. We have an open-door policy, fostering open, honest, and transparent relationships with parents, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident to be involved in your child’s education.

Parents are invited to be involved in their children’s learning in many ways, such as:

  • Termly Meetings: Each term, you can meet with the SENDCo and/or class teacher to review progress, discuss support, and set goals.
  • SEN Drop-In Meetings: Regular meetings to discuss how SEN support is impacting your child outside of school.
  • Parents’ Evenings: Three opportunities throughout the year to discuss your child’s progress.
  • Annual Report: An end-of-year report to keep you updated.
  • Immediate Updates: If your child’s needs or aspirations change, please let us know right away.
  • Contacting Teachers: If you have concerns between meetings, please contact your child’s class teacher.

Ways to be involved:

  • Target Setting: See what your child is working on next.
  • Home/School Books: For some children, to inform parents about their day.
  • Curriculum Overview: Published on our school website.
  • Homework Support: Weekly homework assistance.
  • Reading Diaries: Share and comment in home reading diaries.
  • INSPIRE Workshops: Attend workshops.
  • IEP/Annual Review: Give your views on these documents.
  • Review Meetings: Attend termly review meetings and annual reviews (where appropriate).
  • Further Advice: Speak to class teachers and SENCO for additional support.

We look forward to working with you to support your child’s growth and development.
